Carol (Stella) Phillips

Carol (Stella) Phillips, 71, of League City, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016, in Webster.

Carol was born March 14, 1945, in Moundville, Alabama, to David and Trudy Meggs. Formerly of Moundville, Alabama, Carol was a resident of La Marque for 41 years and a member of the First Baptist Church. After 23 years she retired from Walmart as Department Manager of Fabrics and Crafts. After she retired she worked for a day care and loved working in the nursery with babies. Carol was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star and past President of the Order of Beauceant.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Edward F. Phillips, Sr.

She is survived by two daughters: Katherine Broussard and husband Jason and Linda Davidson; two sons: Edward “Eddie” F. Phillips, Jr. and wife Mary Jane, and Richard Phillips; one sister: Linda Gabel; three brothers: David Meggs and wife Sandy, Ray Meggs and wife Debbie, and Carl Meggs and wife Junia; seven grandchildren: Logan Broussard, Tammy Vick, Dana Boren, Chris Phillips, Charlie Phillips, Clint Phillips and Jason Broussard, Jr.; eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

A visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at James Crowder Funeral Home, La Marque. A service will follow at 7:00pm with Jerry Esmond officiating. A second visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday, January 6, 2017, at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Liberty Methodist Church Cemetery, in Moundville, Alabama.

The family would like to thank Carol’s Special Angel, Bethany Sybert, thanks for the laughs, dinners, and fun times.

In Lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or to the American Diabetes Association (http://www.diabetes.org).
