Greg "Spanky" and Tim will be buried at the
United States Air Force Academy
Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Cadet 4th Class Timothy Barber was killed in the crash near Aero Country Airport, a private airport near McKinney.
Tim Barber, age 18, was on leave from the USAF Cadet Academy based in Colorado Springs spending the Christmas holidays with his family. The Barber family is an exceptional and giving family who always puts everyone else before themselves representing the true meaning of family, friendship, loyalty, compassion, community, teamwork, and patriotism.
We will continue to honor the lives of Spanky and Tim knowing that they are now flying high with the angels.

------
Tim was spending an afternoon of quality father-son time doing what they both loved, flying. Tim, after graduating as Salutatorian from Farmersville High School, was home on break after completing his first semester at the U.S. Air Force Academy working toward following in his father's footsteps. Tim was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Farmersville and active in the Boy Scouts and Eagle Scouts. He enjoyed playing tennis, hanging out with his friends and being with his family. Time, like his father, personified the phrase "Humble Servitude" touching many lives during his short, yet remarkable time on this earth. Tim's love for the United States Air Force was only surpasses by his love of his family and of course the Lord. Those touched by Time will carry him with them forever.

Luke 18: 29-30
And He said to them, "Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who will not receive many times as much at this time and in the age to come, eternal life."

Timothy Barber is survived by his mother, brothers, sister, sister-in-law, grandparents and aunt. (Family member's names omitted to preserve privacy.)

Services were held on Monday, January 9, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church of Plano, 3160 East Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75074.

Tim and his father, Greg, will also receive a military service, 1:30PM, Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the United States Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel, 2306 Sijan Drive, U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado 80840.

Burial to follow at the United States Air Force Academy Cemetery.

His Father :
Greg “Spanky” Barber was a retired LT Col USAF pilot, loving husband and father. He was an exceptionally accomplished and very experienced pilot. Not only was he a USAF Instructor Pilot, a Cold War Alert Pilot, a Combat Pilot, he flew U-2’s, B-52’s and T-38’s. He was the very last pilot to ever be selected to fly the SR-71 just before the program was cancelled and subsequently went on to become a U2 pilot.
