Rosalie Ann (Schlender) Johnson was born near Erwin, SD on May 31, 1941 to James R. and Alma (Ettie) Schlender. She attended school in Erwin where she was active as a cheerleader, choir member and many other activities. She graduated in 1959 as Salutatorian of her class. She soon moved to Brookings where she worked for the Tasty Shoppe Restaurant, Farmer’s Coop, Kjellsen’s Chevrolet, K-Mart and HyVee.
She met Robert Johnson shortly after she moved to Brookings and they married June 16, 1967. To that marriage was added a son, Chad and two daughters, Renae and Tanya. She also has four wonderful grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family and friends, dancing, singing and having a good time. She was always trying to help others—whether family members or friends. She did volunteer work at the hospital and the retirement center.
She is survived by her husband, Bob; son, Chad (Laurie) of Rosemount, MN; daughter, Renae (Terry Kluess) of Brookings, and daughter, Tanya (Kyle Christensen) of Tea, SD; three granddaughters: Amber, Jenna, Chloe; one grandson, Carter; one brother, Jim of Kansas; two sisters, Jean of ND, and Donna of CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one older brother, Robert; two older sisters, Beverly and Adyln; and one niece.
