Born in Phelps, Wisconsin, he journeyed far in this life: from northern Wisconsin, through Milwaukee in his teens and twenties, the Pacific Theater while serving in the United States Army Air Force during World War II, then back to Milwaukee to work for A. O. Smith as a commercial photographer, raise his family and cultivate his love of tending the earth. He retired with his wife to a farm in Almond, Wisconsin, where he contently watched his fields and trees grow and produce. Many winters were spent in Zephyrhills, Florida, then a move back to Milwaukee where he and Mom spent the rest of their lives together.

Gordon could find a four-leaf clover in a field of weeds. He was proud to achieve the age of 100 years and to have lived through a very exciting timer period in our country's history. He was preceded in death by his bingo and loved wife of 70 years, Phyllis Eileen Crawford Bell. Their life together was long, colorful and blessed. They both left this world at the Milwaukee Catholic Home, 1/2 block from where they met and became sweethearts. His journey is now complete and he rests in peace. He will be forever remembered and remain in the hearts of his children; his 11 grandchildren; his 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and many good friends.
