The daughter of Pinkney and Cora Farmer and the eldest of eight children, she grew up on a farm in St. Clair County during the Great Depression and worked in a munitions factory during WWII.
She married Arnold Fuqua in 1959 and, following his death, married Richard Marshall in 1984.
Elsie enjoyed traveling, volunteering with the Salvation Army, attending services at Independent Presbyterian Church, and spending time with her family. She always maintained her sense of humor and positive outlook on life.
A private burial was held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Elmwood Cemetery.
