Donald was the founding pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church, in Reynoldsburg, in 1958, where he served until his retirement in 1991. Upon retirement he continued to serve as an assistant at St. John Lutheran Church on West Broad.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Capital University, and his Bachelors of Divinity from Capital Seminary, then going on to earn his Masters and PhD from The Ohio State University.
Prior to full time ministry, from 1948-1954, he was a local radio announcer and was the first voice of the Ohio State University football team.
Preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Donald and Martha Fritz.
Donald is survived by his wife of 66 years Mary Lou (Friend) Fritz; daughter Debbie Bunce, son Donald (Rebecca) Fritz, Jr; grandsons Andrew Bunce and Eric Fritz; and sister Dorothy (Rev. Robert) Pfueger.
