Charles Kevin “Charlie” Bergman (USAF, Ret.), 64, Deer River, died December 25, 2016.

He was born April 27, 1952, in Minneapolis, to Luther “Spud” Emmanuel and Margaret Louella Bergman.

He entered the Air Force Academy in 1971 and graduated June 4, 1975, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Science. He married Sherry Lee Holine. In 1982, they adopted a little girl from Korea, Holly Louella Bergman. Four years later, they adopted a son from Korea, Nicholas Charles Bergman. Charlie's military career spanned 26+ years, which included being a B-52 instructor/check pilot to squadron commander of the largest bomb squadron in the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force in 2000, Charlie continued to work in Aviation Safety. The couple retired to Minnesota, settling in Deer River in 2012.
