SUNRAY - Winfred "Kakaw" Rousser, 85, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, in Dumas.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sunray Baptist Church with the Rev. Philip Hilton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery with flag detail by American Legion Post 224 of Dumas. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.

Mr. Rousser was born Jan. 16, 1921, in Kress to George Frederick Rousser and Edna Frances Myers Rousser. He served in the Army during World War II from 1942 until 1945 in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe and received several commendation medals. On Jan. 8, 1950, he married Mary Frances Chandler in Clovis, N.M. He had been a Sunray resident since 1955, serving on the Sunray Fire Department for 25 years and as fire chief for two terms. He retired from the Sunray Co-Op in 1983 after working 15 years as fuel manager. He was a member of Sunray Baptist Church

He was preceded in death by an infant son, and a great-grandson, Conner Mason.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Judy Mason of Sunray; a son, Doug Rousser of Fritch; two sisters, Ramona Mallow of Plainview and Marguarite Bowman of Redondo Beach, Calif.; three grandchildren, Robby Mason, Todd Mason and wife Denise and Amber Mason; and two great-grandchildren, Cole Mason and Kamryn Mason.

The family suggests memorials be to Family Life Center, in care of Sunray Baptist Church, P.O. Box 550, Sunray, TX 79086 or a favorite charity.

The family will be at 601 Avenue L in Sunray.
