Obituary from holbrookmortuary.com:

On June 29 2015, Paul Alton Beck- “everyone’s friend” passed away. He was born in Springville, Utah on April 11, 1927 to Alton and Vanda Beck. He grew up in Springville and Orem where he attended Lincoln High School. He was nicknamed “Cap” because he was captain of the football team and the basketball team. He also ran track. Out of high school he enlisted in the US Merchant Marines where he served during WW II. After the war he attended Weber State College, and Utah State Agriculture College. He married Sammie Clyde from Heber City, UT in the Salt Lake Temple, and they raised their five children in Holladay. Later in life they served a mission to St. Kitts in the West Indies. Paul understood the importance of his stewardship as husband and father, and was an example of what manner of man he should be in all of life’s roles.

Paul worked in the construction industry all his life. He owned his own business during most of his adulthood and performed work in many parts of the US as well as overseas. Regardless of where he was, Paul developed many close friendships. He was quick to smile and always solicitous of others’ well being. Adults and young people loved Paul and he was sought out for advice by many. Paul quietly ingratiated himself to others because of his lack of self-centered ego. He was not boastful -he would rather focus on those around him.

His best friend, Sammie, and his daughter Carla preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughters Robyn Brown and Nancy Rounds and his sons, Tim and Kelly Beck-all of Salt Lake, and his sister Beverly Gottfredson of Provo. He will be missed.

The family would like to thank the Beehive Home of Draper and Caregiver’s Support Hospice for the care they have given our father. We would especially like to thank his nurse, Marty Ferraro, for her excellent care.
