Elizabeth was the daughter of Abraham Kiser and Mary J. "Polly" Counts.

She married 1st on May 15, 1872 in Russell Co., Virginia, her cousin Samuel Houston Kiser (1852-1893). They had the following known children; Orlena "Lena," Carrie Bessie, Tabitha E. "Tillie," Lillie May, Bertha Rathaleeter "Ratha," Utah, Maynard McCall "Mack," and Samuel Gould Kiser.

Elizabeth remarried on Dec. 12, 1896 in Greene Co., Missouri, Allen Murphy (c1860-1916). He is buried at Hazelwood Cemetery. They had one son, Allen Terry Murphy.
