Obituary from summersfuneral.com:
Dorla D. Curtis, 88, of Boise died Friday, March 27, 2015. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 3, 2015 at 11:00 am, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, located at 701 South Curtis Road. A viewing will be held from 10:00-10:45 am, prior to the services. Interment will follow directly at Dry Creek Cemetery.
Dorla was born April 22, 1926 in Warm River, ID, the 4th of six children born to Willis Lemmon and Alice Edna Jones Hibbard. Her early pioneer grandfather, George A. Hibbard, was instrumental in the building of canals around Rexburg, ID and the small community of Hibbard, ID, was named in tribute to his accomplishments.
When Dorla was in the 5th grade, the family sold their ranch and moved to Boise, ID where she lived out the remainder of her life.
While in Boise, she attended Franklin and Lowell Elementary, North Jr. High, and graduated from Boise High School in 1944. She later attended Brigham Young University where she studied Psychology and was on the debate team.
On March 7, 1947 she married Robert Glen Curtis. Six children were born from this union. Bob and Dorla were married 68 years.
In 1960, they built a cabin on Lake Cascade in Donnelly, ID, where they shared many special memories with their family. Everyone loved the beauty of the surroundings and enjoyed the many activities in which they could participate.
Dorla retired from Mountain Bell Telephone with 35 years of service. After retirement, Bob and Dorla traveled extensively abroad.
She was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Dorla will be remembered for her unselfish, continual love and support for her family, her commitment to her church, and for her beautiful flower gardens where she spent many peaceful hours.
She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Vicki Cluff (John), Becky Fuhriman (Wynn), Cindy Hobson (David), Bob Curtis (Kim), Kristin Fry (John), and Jan Wassmuth (Neil). Other survivors include a dear sister, Fern Stubblefield; two sisters-in-law, Hazel A. Hibbard and Lorna Hibbard; 37 grandchildren; and 82 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Grant and Dean Hibbard; grandchildren, Joshua Curtis Fry and Loren Mary Curtis; and great-grandchild, Novalee Lynn Sheckells.
