HELEN V. CASE GARRITY

Helen V. Case Garrity of Port Jervis, NY, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Place, Port Jervis. She was 91.

She was born on September 29, 1918 in Matamoras, PA, the daughter of the late Herman and Ethel Quick Heater.

Helen was a retired floor lady for Andmore, Sportswear, Inc., Port Jervis and worked as a chambermaid at the Eddy Farm Hotel in Sparrowbush.

She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Tri-State Naval Ship #7241, Port Jervis, a life member of the VFW, National Home for Children and of the ILGWU, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Post # 139, Milford, PA, the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks, #645 B.P.O.E. and the National AARP.

She is survived by her son, Robert R. Case and wife Kathy of Sparrowbush, NY; grandson Ryan Case and wife Donna of Port Jervis; several grandchildren including Killian Case; several great-grandchildren; step-sons Earl Garrity and companion Cheryl Hankins and Kenneth Garrity and wife Joan, all of Port Jervis; step-daughter Joyce Decker and husband Carl of Town of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.

Helen is predeceased by husband Raymond Case and husband Donald Garrity; and her daughter Joyce Case Brighton.

Memorial services were held on Wednesday July 21 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., Port Jervis, with the Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating. Tri-State Naval Ship and Elks services were also held on Wednesday.

Interment took place at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush.
