Herbert, 88, Coldwater, died at Mercer County Community Hospital.
He was the son of William and Cecilia (Schwieterman) Forsthoefel. On Oct 21, 1961, he married Madeline Braun, who survives in Celina.
Also surviving are two sons: Roger (Peggy), New Paris, and Doug (Judy), Coldwater; two daughters: Mona (Tom) O’Brien, Beavercreek, and Paula (Matt) Dirksen, Winchester, IN; two brothers: Ken, FL, and Tom, Coldwater; three brothers-in-law: Jerry (Marj) Braun, Cincinnati, Tom (Teresa) Braun, Richmond, IN, and Kenneth (Susan) Braun, St. Marys; four sisters-in-law: Luetta and Clara Forsthoefel and Thelma Mueller, all Coldwater, and Marian (Charles) Gross, Earlysville, VA; and nineteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sons: Charlie and Patrick; three brothers and two sisters linked below; and five in-laws: Rose Forsthoefel, Pat Forsthoefel, Ralph Staugler, Linie Mescher and John Mueller.
A member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, the men’s holy name of the church, and the Coldwater Knights of Columbus, he was a veteran of the US Army and worked for New Idea, Coldwater, and retired from Bruns Construction. He was passionate about flowers and birds and enjoyed fishing and his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Holy Trinity Church, Coldwater. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
