Samuel Neil Ulm was born about 1845 in Wabash County, Illinois and resided in Mt. Carmel, Wabash County, Illinois and enlisted at age 18 as a Private on December 22, 1863 in Olney, Illinois by M. O’Kern for three years. He was a farmer by occupation. He was 5’ 3” tall and ad black hair, blue eyes and a fair complexion. He was killed in action during the charge at Kennesaw Mountain, Georgia on June 27, 1864. He was a half brother to William Ulm of this company, who was also killed.
