Thelma Sims Gaston

Thelma Sims Gaston, age 90, of Gatesville passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016. Funeral services will be Monday, December 26, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., at Scott’s Funeral Home, with Kurt Fuessel officiating. Burial will follow at Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Thelma was born on September 7, 1926 in Gatesville, Texas, to the late Edgar and Pearl Boykin Sims. She graduated from Gatesville High School. She married Luther Ollie Gaston on April 13, 1946. Thelma worked on Ft. Hood, Civil Service in accounting for 48 years. In her spare time, Thelma would go to the farm to take care of her cows, who she thought of as her second set of kids. Thelma also loved to sing and dance. She was well known at the senior dances as “The Peanut Brittle Lady”, for making delicious peanut brittle. Thelma was an avid member of Calvary Baptist Church in Gatesville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Luther Ollie Gaston; daughter, Eva Joan Gilliland; son, Jerry Lloyd Gaston; and granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn Farr.

Thelma is survived by her sons, Don Gaston and wife, Jennifer, Mike Gaston and wife, Jackie; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
