Marilyn C. Welch

1932~2016

Marilyn Carpenter Welch tumbled into the world on 11/11/32 in Cedar City, Utah.

She was the oldest of three spirited brothers (Boyd, Lee and Jack) and the apple of her parents' eyes.

In her younger years, Marilyn was skilled at fishing, hunting and trapping, thanks to her dad, and loved hanging out with her lifelong girlfriends, known as

'The Pack.'

She began working at age 14 (finally retiring at age 71) and met George Welch while employed at the local soda fountain.

They married in 1953 (later divorced) and had two children, their son Buzz in 1958 and daughter Patricia in 1960.

Marilyn was a devoted mother, a loyal friend and a committed family woman who loved unconditionally.

Her quick wit and sense of humor will be passed on for generations.

Marilyn passed from this world on 12/18/16, surrounded by family.

We were so lucky to have her.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents

Boyd Delaplaine Carpenter

and Oral Harris, her brothers Lee and Boyd and her great-granddaughter, Grace.

She is survived by her son Buzz (Kelly Fuller) and daughter Patricia Olsen (Scott); her grandchildren:

Jeniece (Leif Oldert), Michael (Katie O'Leary), Nathan, Thomas (Ashley Wallis), Beth Fielding (Landon), Megan King (Korbin), Alexander, and Ryan; and her great-grandchildren: Ryan, Jane, Bronson, Claire and Cal; brother, Jack (Janice) Carpenter.

A viewing will be held on 12/21/16 at Anderson and Goff Mortuary (11859 South 700 East, Draper, Utah) from 5-6pm, funeral services to follow from 6-7pm.

A graveside service will be held at 1pm at Cedar City Cemetery on 12/22/16.
