Funeral services for Gregory Vance Evans will be held Friday, December 23, 2016 at 12:00 PM at the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Clearview Cemetery.

Gregory Vance Evans was born March 24, 1975 in St. Louis, Missouri. He joined his “forever parents”, Claud and Elayne Evans on June 19, 1976. He lived with them in St. Louis, Missouri, Bettendorf, Iowa, Poway, California and Okemah, Oklahoma.

Gregory graduated from Okemah Public Schools after attaining 10 consecutive years of perfect attendance. He went on to receive an Associate Degree from Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Urban Agriculture from Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma. He also did additional studies at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

While in high school, Gregory united with St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Okemah, Oklahoma. Greg loved all kinds of sports and especially liked the Okemah Panthers and the OSU Cowboys.

After graduating, Greg had several jobs but excelled at automobile sales. He received Outstanding Salesman Awards and Top Salesman of the Month Award from Smicklas Chevrolet in Oklahoma City. Later when he returned to Okemah he started his own window washing/handyman business.

Greg entered Eternal Life on December 20, 2016 at the age of 41, where he joined his maternal grandparents, J.P. and Vivian Owens and his paternal grandparents, Rev. Edward and Virgie May Evans.

He will be missed by many including his parents, Claud and Elayne Evans, his sister Kelli (Leon) Neal, one nephew, Donavin Evans and three nieces, Nakiah Evans, Tia Marie Neal and Jazzmin Neal all of Okemah. Also three aunts, Valadean Gardner, Charlotte June Bates, Vera (Deorsey) McGruder and many, many cousins and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Calvin Miller, David Hamilton, Ron Vick, Lee Vick, Ryan Codding and Terry Edminsten.

Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, Oklahoma and officiated by Rev. Valerie Steele.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Okemah, Oklahoma.
