Velma Ione (Babcock) Rowland, 86 of Pawnee City, Nebraska passed away on Monday, December 19, 2016 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
She was born on August 1, 1930 to August and Bertha (Burgett) Babcock in Dawson, Nebraska.
Velma married Charles (Sandy) Rowland on April 27, 1947 in Seneca, Kansas and to this union seven children were born.
Velma worked many years at the Pawnee Manor and Campbell Soup Company where she formed many lasting friendships, but her life passion was her family.
Always the Lady. Eternal defender of the downtrodden. Adopter of the lost. Seeker of the soul. Endless love and forgiveness. Wheel of Fortune genius. Her ship has finally come in.
She is survived by her sister Margie Clifton, children, Joyce Young, Mary Sparenberg, Nancy Wahlstrom, David Rowland, Ron Rowland, 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents, August and Bertha (Burgett) Babcock, husband Charles (Sandy) Rowland, daughter Linda Zwygart, son, Charles (Chuck) Rowland and granddaughter Annette (Rowland) Wright, siblings, Glen Babcock, Raymond Babcock, Zelma Amsberry, Lawrence Babcock, Lorraine Schram, Thelma Nicholas, and Betty Brown.
Funeral Services: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Presbyterian/Christian Church, Pawnee City, Nebraska with Reverend Duane Westing officiating.
Visitation: Monday, December 26, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska.
Interment will be in the Pawnee City Cemetery, Pawnee City, Nebraska.
