•Birth and death dates are approximations.

•The following quote that mentions the Mason and Martha Frank (Spilman) Wigginton family comes from Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed, Carroll Co. 1887. "Charles S. Wigginton, a prominent farmer & stock grower of Carroll Co., was born in Trimble Co., KY & is the fourth of a family of eight children born to Mason & Martha (Spilman) Wigginton. Mason Wigginton, a native of KY was born in 1800 & died in 1854."

COMPILER'S NOTE: Mason's death date is incorrect in the passage. Mason and Martha are found on the 1860 Trimble County Ky census. He remarried three years later in Illinois, therefore Martha's death is presumed to be between 1860 and 1863.

•Two Wigginton brothers married two Spilman sisters:
Mason Wigginton married Martha Frank Spilman
Sidney Wigginton married Elizabeth Brown Spilman

•Direct ancestors of this line of Wiggintons and Spillmans are found together as Vestrymen of Overwharton Parrish, Stafford County, Virginia a full century earlier.

•Mason's death is recorded by Missouri congressman, Clarence Cannon, who was married to Mason's great niece, Ida Dawson Wigginton. Cannon was a prolific genealogist and published the family history in a manuscript entitled "The Wigginton Book". He writes "Mason died at the home of his son, Greenberry [Berry W. Wigginton], in Trimble County, Kentucky." (p. 30)
