THE DAILY BULLETIN, Martinsville, Va., Wed. Afternoon, Jan. 19, 1938, p. 1, col. 5 [edited]. Aged Woman Passes Away. Mrs. Ruth Angeline Coleman, 84, wife of Morgan Augustus Coleman, passed away Tuesday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joe B. Bassett, at Charlotte, N.C., following a long decline in health. Mrs. Coleman was the daughter of Lucinda Baker Craighead and Thomas Lodiwick Craighead, and was born at "Concord" in Franklin county in 1854. She was married to Mr. Coleman on February 10, 1870, recently celebrating their 68th wedding anniversary. Surviving are her husband and the following children: Mesdames T. C. Matthews, city; Mrs. Joe B. Bassett, Charlotte, N.C.; Messrs J. B. Coleman, Pulaski; R. R. Coleman, Bassett; M. M. Coleman, Dublin and T. C. Coleman of Glen Rock, Penn. Two sons and a daughter preceded her to the grave. The remains were brought to Martinsville Wednesday where a short funeral service was held in Oakwood Cemetery Wednesday.

Coleman, Henry county natives, who recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in Charlotte, N.C., being guests at a dinner party. It was sixty-three years ago February 10th, when Miss Ruth Angeline Craighead and Morgan Augusta Coleman, both in their teens, defied the terribly hard times which followed the wake of the Civil War and were married. On last Friday, February 10, they celebrated. With each of the four generations of the family represented, they were guest of Mrs. Uhlman S. Alexander of Charlotte, N.C., a granddaughter who entertained at a family dinner party in their honor. Seven living children, 30 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren now make up the family circle. Mr. and Mrs. Coleman from well known Henry county families were married at Spencer, Virginia, February 10, 1870. Their home is in Pulaski, but they have been spending the winter at Charlotte with their daughter, Mrs. J. B. Bassett. Mrs. Coleman was born in 1854 and is now 79 years old; and Mr. Coleman was born in 1850 and is 83 years of age. Both continue in excellent health, have a beautiful attachment, each for the other, and maintain an active interest in the affairs of the day. Their children are Mrs. J. B. Bassett, Charlotte, N.C.; Mrs. T. C. Matthews, Martinsville; Mrs. G. C. Pratt, Cambria (Montgomery Co.), Va.; J. Bruce Coleman, Pulaski, Va.; R. R. Coleman, Bassett, Va.; T. C. Coleman, Pulaski, Va., and M. M. Coleman of Bellspring, Va.
