Sergeant Eugene Carter was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, SGT Carter served our country until February 28th, 1970 in Binh Duong, South Vietnam. He was 21 years old and was not married. It was reported that Eugene died from multiple fragmentation wounds from a mine. His body was recovered. SGT Carter is on panel 13W, line 070 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for one year.

On February 28, 1970 the lead APC of a resupply convoy headed to Dau Tieng from the battalion forward base detonated an explosive device. The APC was completely destroyed and seven men from HQ Company were killed: SGT Eugene Carter, Warrenton, NC was one of the seven. Eugene and everyone else on his APC gave their lives.
