Jo Ann Jensen, 79, of Janesville, Iowa, died Friday, December 16, 2016, at UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa.

She was born October 27, 1937 in Edgewood, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore “Ted” and Pearl (Thein) Smock. Jo Ann was a 1956 graduate of Cedar Falls High School.

Jo Ann married James Einer Jensen on June 9, 1956 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2012.

She worked in the accounting dept. at Black’s Department Store in Waterloo for several years, McCoy Truck Lines for many years and retired in 1997 from Control-O-Fax.

Jo Ann was a member of the Finchford Community Bible Church Sunshiners, where she volunteered at the church. She also regularly attended the monthly Cedar Falls High School Class of 1956 luncheon.

Jo Ann is survived by her three sons, Steven James Jensen of Fairbank, Iowa, Dennis Allen Jensen (special friend Kathy Anderson) of Seabrook, Texas and Terry Ray (Barbara) Jensen of Allison, Iowa; her daughter-in-law, Jodie Jensen-Scoles (Cody) of Aplington, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and one on the way; her sister, Janet Akana, of Orangeville, California, and her special friend and dance partner, Kenneth Meives, of Albert Lea, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; her son, Larry E. Jensen; a sister, Vanita Shaw, and a brother, Teddy Smock.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at Finchford Community Bible Church, with burial in Finchford Cemetery. Visitation will be 4—7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and one hour before service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
