Eugene A. Jung of San Marcos, Texas, formerly of Fredericksburg, Texas passed away in his home on Wednesday, December 14th, 2016 at the age of 96 years. He was born October 18th, 1920 in San Antonio, Texas the son of Felix H. Jung and Catherine “Katie” Keller Jung, served in the U.S. Air Force during WW II, married Virginia Lang on May 9th, 1942 in St. Mary’s Church in Fredericksburg, after her passing Gene married Carolyn Thompson May 30, 2000. He worked as a contractor in which he built many homes in the Fredericksburg and surrounding area.
Preceded in death by his parents, first wife Virginia Lang Jung, two brothers, Clemens & Raymond Jung.
Gene is survived by the following, his wife Carolyn Thompson Jung of San Marcos, three sons, one daughter & spouses, Dr. Anthony & Joan Jung of Midlothian, Texas, Dennis & Kathleen Jung of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Steven & Sandy Jung of Fredericksburg, Katie Jung of Canyon Lake, Texas, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, sister, Elizabeth Powers of San Antonio.
Mass of resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 20th, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, with Monsignor Enda McKenna officiating.
Graveside services & entombment will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum in Fredericksburg.
The family has asked that memorial contributions in his memory be given to the St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Visitation for Eugene Jung will be on Tuesday morning from 9 to 10:30 A.M. with a Rosary recited at 10:30 in St. Mary’s Church in Fredericksburg.
