Carl was the husband of Donna (Carchidi) Johnson; father to Carl S. Johnson, William C. Johnson, Lori (Johnson) Fitton and Crystal Johnson. He leaves several grandchildren; a brother Kenneth Johnson of Florida, Robert Mello of Florida, Dorothy Woodward of Spencer, and many nieces and nephews. Carl was predeceased by son James Johnson, daughter Vicki Johnson, granddaughter Amanda Johnson and a brother, Herbert Johnson. Carl was the son of Carl W. and Marion R. (Brown) Johnson.

He worked for Our Lady Good Counsel Church for more than 25 years. He also worked for 14 years as a security guard at the DCU center in Worcester. Carl and his wife opened their home to many children in need over the years as a Foster Parent of Central Massachusetts. He coached sports teams and distribute holiday food baskets for catholic charities. He was a prior member of the West Boylston Lion Club, member of the West Boylston Band Stand Committee and many more organizations.
