Joe Todd Harrell, 79, of Boise, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007 in a Boise hospital of natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 12, 2007 at Hillview United Methodist Church with Rev. Kjell Knudsen officiating. Burial will follow at Meridian Cemetery. Friends may call at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel today, Thursday, Jan. 11 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Joe Todd Harrell was born on Jan. 16, 1927 in May, Texas, the son of Ace Day and Virgie Ethel Williams Harrell. He was one of seven children with three sisters and three brothers. Todd was raised on a ranch and loved ranch life. He attended schools in May, Texas. His father was a prominent rancher and veterinarian. Todd would help him when his father treated sick animals. Todd had his own horse and loved riding horses and herding cattle. He enjoyed the outdoors and helping on the ranch. Todd met Anna Vines in 1946 and they were married on June 28, 1947 in Brownwood, Texas. Todd worked for Phillips Petroleum Company for 32 years and was transferred to numerous states before his retirement in 1988. Todd was an avid NFL football fan. He was fortunate to attend Super Bowl XII with Denver and Dallas in New Orleans and Super Bowl XIII with Pittsburg and Dallas in Miami. His hobbies were fishing, golf, bowling, gardening and square dancing with the Capital Squares until his health worsened in 1995 and he had to quit dancing. Todd and Anna traveled to Arizona several years, spending their winters there. At the age of 13, Todd joined the Methodist Church and has been a member of the United Methodist Church in Boise since 1995. He was also a member of the Idaho Outdoor Association, serving as President and Vice President, and was a member of the Boise Valley Square Dance Club. Survivors include his only daughter, Linda Harrell Steinbroner and her husband, Charles Steinbroner of Eagle, Idaho; one granddaughter, Tami Clark and her husband, Bob of Boise; one grandson, Ryan Todd Steinbroner and his wife, Desiree of Boise; and three great-grandchildren, Max, Sophia and Isaac. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lou Vines Harrell, his parents, three brothers, Eldon, Howard, and Wendel Harrell, three sisters, June St. Clair, Helen Lundgren and Betty Montgomery all of Texas. Memorials are suggested to Hillview United Methodist Church Building Fund, 8525 Ustick Rd., Boise, Idaho 83704 or to the American Lung Association, 1111 S. Orchard, Boise, Idaho 83705.
