Daniel Ruff, 90, of Great Falls, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at a local care facility, surrounded by his family. No services for Mr. Ruff will be held, per his request. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, under the direction of Croxford Funeral Home.
Daniel was born April 28, 1926 in Vanada, Montana to parents, John and Carolina. He was one of thirteen children. Dan proudly served with the United States Navy. On Christmas Day in 1947, he took Lora Fae Adamsen to be his wife in Havre, MT. From that union, their lives were enriched with six sons and four daughters. Together they shared 55 loving years of marriage until her death in 2001.
Daniel worked at the Great Northern Railroad for 40 years and Bekins Moving and Storage for 25 years. He loved fishing and camping trips with his family. He was an avid golfer and a dedicated member of the senior bowling league, bowling an amazing 299-point game at the age of 86.
Daniel is survived by his daughters, Faye Kangas (Arvi) of Great Falls, Mary Lerch (Al) of Shelby, NE, Pam Buckner (Thierry) of Lacey, WA, and Diana Bunko (Al) of Great Falls; his sons, Steven (Vicki) of Great Falls, Bill (Mary) of Cooper, TX, Clayton (Velda) of Longmont, CO, Mike of Billings, MT, and Mark (Pat) of Laurel, MT. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Preceding Daniel in death were his parents; his wife, Lora; his son, Louis Peter Ruff; and his 9 siblings.
