Freeman G Briggs was born about 1832 in Boston Massachusetts to Cornelius Briggs (1787-1848) and Mary Homer Howe Briggs (1794-1875). He apprenticed with his father and older brothers in his father's cabinetmaking workshop.
He married Mary W Woodworth (1828-1913) on 11 Jan 1853 in Boston. He worked with his brothers Charles and Joshua to turn his father's cabinetmaking business into the Briggs Piano Company.
He and his wife had 4 children:

Horace W Briggs (1859 - ??)
Florence E Briggs (1860-1882)
George Freeman Briggs (1864-1945) m. Minnie Susanna Deacks
Freeman Briggs died at age 60 of paralysis.
