WEIR — Homer C. Sanders Jr., 68, retired maintenance supervisor for Mississippi State Parks System, died Wednesday of cancer at his home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Nowell Funeral Home of Kosciusko with burial in New Salem Cemetery. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in West.

Mr Sanders, the husband of Venita V. Sanders, also leaves two daughters, Lavone Rodrigues of Thibodaux, La., and Delynn Gant of Weir; three sons, Lamar Sanders of Greensboro, N.C., James Perry of Jackson and Bobby Perry of Weir; four sisters, Elaine Moorehead and Agnes Goss, both of West, Olene Odom of McAdams and Donna Ruth Jackson of Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Douglas Jackson of Biloxi, 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 25 at Newell Funeral Home in Kosciusko with burial in New Salem Cemetery.

Mr. Sanders, an Attala County native, was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church in West.

Survivors include: wife, Venita; sons, Lamar Sanders of Greensboro, N. C., James Perry of Jackson and Bobby Perry of Weir; daughters, Lavone Rodrique of Thibodaux, Louisiana and Delynn Gant of Weir; stepmother, Ruthie Pearl Whitaker of Kosciusko; brother, Douglas Jackson of Biloxi; sisters, Elaine Moorehead and Agnes Goss, both of West, Olene Odom of McAdams and Donna Ruth Odom of Pensacola; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
