A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island, with visitation from 8 to 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to either St. Mary's Catholic Church or to Alleman High School, Rock Island.
Elda Mae was born June 27, 1927 in Saint Bernard, Nebraska, a daughter of William and Clara Polzin Niebur. She married Howard E. Ehlers on June 30, 1945. He preceded her in death on October 1, 2010.
She was a homemaker, and will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her happiest times were those spent with family.
Elda Mae was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island, and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church. She enjoyed cooking, babysitting her grandchildren, gardening and spending time with Howard.
Surviving are her son, Kevin J. Ehlers, Moline; daughter, Kathy E. Pribble, Milan; grandchildren, Anthony Lee Ehlers, Melissa (Dave) Bartels, Matthew (Tiffany) Ehlers, Gwynne Pribble, Patrick (Jessica) Pribble and Kyle Pribble; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Marlene Blakeman, Norfolk, NB, and Doris Lingenfelder, Florida; sister-in-law, Katherine M. Ehlers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elda was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Mark Ehlers and Steven Ehlers; sisters, Janice Anderson and Ormaline Rebello; and her brother, Ervin Niebur.
