"Ervin Daniel Niebur, 81, of Fremont died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, at Pathfinder House.

He was born Oct. 31, 1933, in Lindsay to William and Clara (Polzin) Niebur. His family moved to Rock Island, Ill., in 1934 where he attended grade school. In 1946, they relocated to Norfolk where he graduated from Sacred Heart High School. Immediately following high school, he began working for Chicago & Northwestern Railroad.

He married Mary Alice Rees on June 18, 1955, in Norfolk, and resided there until moving to Fremont in 1966. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 1996. A man of many interests, Erv could be found working his puzzles, photographing train engines or telling stories of his many life adventures. He loved to smile, laugh and whistle. He adored his family and held them close in his heart, especially his grandchildren and great-granddaughters.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two sisters.

The memorial service will be 4 p.m. Thursday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont with dinner to follow. A private inurnment will be held in Norfolk at a later date.

Family requests no plants/flowers. Memorials may be directed to the family. Due to Erv’s love and respect for children and education, educational scholarships will be supported at Bergan and Norfolk Catholic."
