Taking a trip to London in the 21st century, Imagine, then, making that trip in 1687, when Jennet Cragg travelled on horseback down to London from Quernmore.

At the age of 54, she left her Quaker home at Chapel House in Wyresdale on a mission to rescue her grandsons, John and Joseph Kelsall, who had recently been orphaned. Jennet Cragg's epic tale tells of her bringing the brothers back home to Wyresdale in the horse's panniers.

Young Joseph Kelsall later became head of a large, flourishing Quaker family, well-known throughout the area

The Kelsalls and the Craggs were among the first leading Quaker families in the area, along with the Abbatts, Dilworths, Wilcocksons and Jacksons.
