Born in Anderson County, SC, on August 5, 1924, son of Oliver Marcella and Alma (Cartee) Watson; husband of Sara Kathleen (Belcher) Watson having celebrated 73 years of marriage on March 12, 2016.
Retired from the SC Highway Patrol after 34 years of service; a member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church in Spartanburg; formerly a member of Morningside Baptist Church where he served as deacon; and served in the U.S. Army in WWII.
In addition to his wife, Louis is survived by a daughter, Becky Watson; a son, Sam Watson of Greenwood; a brother, Claude Watson of Murrell's Inlet, SC; two sisters, Peggy Thompson of Easley and Emily Brown of Calhoun Falls, SC; seven grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Rachel Marcell Ivy.
The family received friends Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 2:00-3:00 PM at Seawright Funeral Home.
Funeral services followed in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 PM conducted by Rev. Jack Dodds and Rev Ronnie Norris. Burial was in Good Shepherd Memorial Park in Boiling Springs.
