Son of the late Maggie Lawson Davis and Lyle Davis. He was also preceded in death by his brother, William Randolph Davis.

Jim spent a lifetime devoted to his family and the youth of Charlottesville and the surrounding areas. He spent 15 years coaching Monticello youth football, 11 years coaching Little League Baseball and four years coaching Babe Ruth baseball. In addition to his years spent coaching, he also served as the local Babe Ruth baseball commissioner for 12 years. He was also a high school basketball official for many years. For nearly his entire adult life, he has been a fixture at local high school sporting events for nearly every sport.

In recent years, he was an usher at various University of Virginia sporting events and was well known at University of Virginia football practices. Jim always enjoyed meeting and talking with people. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family and being a loving grandfather.

Over the course of his lifetime he has touched and influenced many people and it is for this that he will always be lovingly remembered.
