Murray O. Weems, Sr., 90, of Lawrence, MS died Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Bedford Care Center in Newton, MS. He was born Saturday, August 28, 1926 in Jasper County, MS.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home - South and also one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held Friday, December 16, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Newton County Funeral Home - South. Burial will follow at Decedar Baptist Church Cemetery in Lawrence, MS. Bro. Leon Stuart will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home - South is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Weems was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. He was a World War II Navy Veteran in which he served as a Coxswain and also earned the Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal and also the American Theatre Medal.

He is preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Vera Weems and Brother- Johnny Floyd Weems, Sr.

Survivors include his Wife of 68 years Margie Weems; Daughter - Linda Hutchinson (Bob); Son - Murray O. Weems, Jr. (Janet), Grandchildren: Courtney Rider (Neal), Mark Westmoreland, Dent Weems, Summar Griffin (Jay), Subrina Weems, and 5 great grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Weems, Danny Weems, Kirk Weems.
