Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Trey Little officiating. Burial was in the Albany Cemetery.

She was a graduate of Albany High School.

She was a member of Matthews Presbyterian Church and was active in the Sallie Matthews Circle and the Church Bazzar. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Lioness Club and served as a docent for the Old Jail Art Center.

Mrs Maxwell was Shackelford County Treasurer for 26 years.
