DRISKILL,, JOHN "JACK" GLENN 75, died May 12, 2006. Jack Driskill, the son of the late Henry and Martha Driskill, was born May 22, 1930 in Louisville, Kentucky. Growing up in Louisville, he graduated from Louisville Male High School in 1947. He received an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, graduating in the class of 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree and the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army. His military career was spent in the United States Army Corps of Engineers covering 27 years of active service. He retired as a Colonel in 1979. During this time he saw action in Korea and Vietnam. He also served at West Point in the Admissions Division, Frankfurt and Heidelberg, Germany, Washington, D.C., Fort Hood, Texas, and was in command of the Tulsa District Engineer Division for three years in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He received his Master of Science degree at Purdue University. Jack attended the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the U.S. Army War College. His military awards include the Bronze Star medal, Legion of Merit with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Meritorious Service Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Army Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster. Lt. Driskill married Mona Lewis of Louisville, Kentucky in December 1952, thus having 53 years together, enjoying both military life and, since 1979, civilian life in Garland, Texas. He was a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. After military retirement Jack worked for the Las Colinas Corporation for six years serving as Senior Vice President of Land Development. He spent eleven years with the City of Garland serving as Managing Director of Engineering, Infrastructure, and Transportation Services. Jack was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church in Garland where he has served on the Vestry as both Jr. and Sr. Warden. At the time of his death he was Sr. Warden and Verger. He has also been involved with many alumni activities with the West Point Society of North Texas, in addition to serving as an Admissions Field Representative for the Academy. Colonel Driskill is survived by his wife, Mona, and a sister, Martha Rankin; nephew, J. Edwin Rankin, IV; niece, Ann Rankin Fleming and two great nieces, Katherine and Caroline Fleming, all of Louisville, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. David's Episcopal Church, 2022 Saturn Rd., Garland, Texas 75041-1640 in memory of John G. Driskill. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Williams Funeral Directors. Eucharist and service of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 noon Thursday, May 18th at St. David's Episcopal Church. Private interment to follow, Monday, May 22nd at Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville, Kentucky.
