Obituary for Marilyn Joyce Tompkins
Marilyn Joyce Tompkins, 81 of Abingdon, formerly of Galesburg, Illinois died at 8:50 P.M. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Care Center of Abingdon.

She was born on March 17, 1935 in Peoria, Illinois the daughter of Howard and Mary Towne. She was raised and educated in the Peoria area. She married John Quincy Tompkins and he preceded her in death.

Marilyn owned and operated J.T.’s Bar and Package in Galesburg for many years. She loved her animals.

Marilyn is survived by two daughters, Jill (Buster) Tompkins of Galesburg, Illinois and Lisa Ellen Tompkins of Green River, Wyoming; one son, Bry (Marilyn) Dell Tompkins of Peoria, Illinois; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild on the way; and one sister.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three siblings.
