Anna Dorothy Kirkwood Hennesy, 77, of Ames, died Thursday, July 6. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 8, at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 321 Euclid Ave., in Des Moines with the Rev. Terrance Hennesy and the Rev. Christopher (Kip) Harris officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.
Anna Dorothy Kirkwood was born June 24, 1929, in Newport, N.H. She and her family moved to Westbrook, Maine, when she was 2 years old, and they moved to Hanover, N.H., when she was 10. She married W. Dean Hennesy Dec. 26, 1946, at the bride's home on East Wheelock St. in Hanover. She lived in five states, including Seattle, Wash., and Des Moines.
She will be mourned by her husband, Dean; four sons, Stephen (Kassy), of West Branch, Alexander (Ruth), of St. Charles, Mo., Andrew (Kathy), of Des Moines, and Terrance (Colleen), of Oswego, Ill.; one daughter, Elizabeth (Duane) Anderson, of Nevada; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Christopher and Hugh; her parents; sisters; and one brother.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 8, prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to Highland Park Presbyterian Church in loving memory of Anna.
