Les Fry, born October 26, 1942 in Bakersfield, California to Carroll and Elfriede Fry, left us unexpectedly December 1, 2016.

Les graduated from Bakersfield High School and served his country in the Marine Corps Reserve. He began his career at Andre's Drive-In, where he became famous for his fried pies and beans. He later joined Greenfield School District as a mechanic and bus driver; known to the kids on his route as "French Fry". He retired after 42 years of service.

In retirement he enjoyed being a faithful Raiders fan, the First Tuesday of the Month Breakfast Club, gardening and pickling vegetables and supporting his grandchildren's events. He loved spending time in the mountains at his cabin on Poso Creek. Wednesdays were spent with his brother, Jeff Fry, and friends at Lake Ming, building and racing R.C. boats. Known as "Pops" to the neighborhood kids, Les became their official bicycle repairman, taking the time to teach them how to use a wrench.

Les is survived by his wife Alice, children: Kathy Cook (Steve), Kenneth, Thomas (Darci), Joseph (Kathy), Eric, Becky Alves (Elder), brother Jeff Fry (Diane), 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. this Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Mission Family Mortuary, 531 California Ave. Services will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2016 at St. Francis Church, 900 H Street. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Homeless Dinners at St. Francis Church or to your favorite charity for animals.
