She was born September 20, 1927 in Eugene, Oregon, to Claude and Jessie Jackson. Claudell graduated from Eugene High School and stayed in Oregon for a few years after graduation. She then ventured to Colorado to live with her aunt.
Claudell worked at Home and Loan and Investment Company where she met the man of her dreams, Harold, and was married on November 14, 1948. They were married for 56 years. They had two children, Sharon and Michael.
Claudell loved the coast and went back to Oregon as much as possible. She also enjoyed spending time on Grand Mesa. After Harold retired, they both spent time traveling with Ports of Call and with many of their close friends. Her last big trip was to the Mediterranean at the age of 85 with two of her long-time friends.
Claudell also enjoyed a good game of bridge, as well as golf. She played golf up to the age of 86. She would quickly jump at the opportunity to go fishing and loved being outside gardening.
She was also an accomplished artist and shared her paintings with her family and friends. Her family cherishes those landscapes that she painted.
Claudell was an active member of both Camaraderie and Chapter GF, PEO up until this year when her health began to fail. She and Harold were also charter members of Bookcliff Country Club and enjoyed playing golf and dining with friends.
Claudell is survived by her daughter, Sharon, of Grand Junction; her son, Michael (Louise), of Perth, Australia; two grandsons: Jesse and Lucas, of Perth; one brother, Wesley (Rhoda), of Bothell, WA; four nephews and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Interment will be at the Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Roice Hurst Humane Society, 362 28 Road, Grand Junction, CO 81501, or the Harold and Claudell Nursing Scholarship at Colorado Mesa University, 1450 North 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81501.
