Ben McCoy Mills, 81, of 474 E. Third St. died Thursday morning at the local Railway Employees Hospital. He had been ill three years.
Mr. Mills was born June 5, 1873 in Tiskilwa, Ill., a son of John M. and Georgianna (Slygh) Mills. He first married Maude Stinson, who died in 1933. He was then married to Maggie Morris in 1936. She survives.
In 1909 Mr. Mills moved to Peru from Goodland, Kas. He was a retired C & O engineer and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
Surviving in addition to the wife are eight children, Mrs. Marjorie Blue and Mrs. William Kurz, Peru; Bessie Mills of Chicago; Mrs. Flora Kirtley, Liberty Center, Ind.; Bert and Carl, Peru; Robert of Lansing, Mich., and Richard of Indianapolis; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Mary Streeter, Barberton, O., and a brother, John M., Tiskilwa, Ill.
The body is at the Eikenberry Funeral Home where friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, from the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Allbritton officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
