Macomb, IL - Charles H. Brumett, 80, of 1108 S. Madison, formerly of Ipava, died at 8:26 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998, at Heartland Health Care Center.

Born June 2, 1918, in Saunemin to John and Ida Wagner Brumett, he married Ruth Anne Howell on Nov. 30, 1943, in Peoria. She died July 14, 1993.

He also was preceded in death by one step grandson, one brother and one sister.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Barbara) Bailey of Macomb; one son, John of Canton, Mo.; two grandchildren; and two step grandchildren.

A graduate of Illinois State University, he taught school for three years. He later farmed for 35 years, retiring in 1984.

A World War II Army veteran, he served as a bombardier.

He was a member of Macomb American Legion Post 6 and Macomb Elks Lodge 1009. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Burial will be in Ipava Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded.
