John Seline Sr., of Ham Lake, formerly of Mora and Cambridge, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at home in Ham Lake. He was 71 years old.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 4, 2016 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Mora with Rev. Kate Schruba.
Memorial visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Inurnment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
John Edwin Seline Sr., age 71, of Ham Lake, MN, formerly of Mora and Cambridge, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at his home.
John Sr. was born on December 14, 1944 in Braham, MN. He dropped out of high school to help the family by working on the farm and driving truck. John Sr. joined the Army during the Vietnam War. While in the Army he finished his schooling and received his high school diploma. When he came home from the Army, John Sr. met Joyce Marie Westman and fell in love with her and her four children. Joyce became the love of his life and they were married in January 1969. Together they had one son, John Jr.
John Sr. held multiple jobs during his career from driving truck on the family farm, working at Fingerhut in Mora to his final job at John Roberts Printing in Coon Rapids for over 20 years. John and their children laid Joyce to rest in October 1999. John Sr. continued to work until he retired in the early 2000’s. After retirement, John Sr. spent many hours at different community churches donating his time and talents in any way he was able; helping set up and serving community meals to helping with the food shelves. During his entire life John Sr. was always the one helping others. He loved to make others laugh and tried to be a peace keeper and caregiver. John Sr.’s final months were spent at home with John Jr. and his family Kristin, Nicholas, Madison, Zachary, and Bryce. John Sr.’s final night was spent with his grandson Nicholas holding his hand; letting him know it would be ok and that he would be with grandma Joyce again.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Marie Westman Seline; parents Julia Thomsen and Edwin Seline; sister Jeanine Sallila.
John is survived by his children: John Seline Jr. (Kristin), Kimberly (Myron) Proehl, William “Butch” (Brenda) Wolff, Belinda (Bruce) Nehring and Pam Hallauer; grandchildren: Nicholas, Bryce, Zachary, Ronald, Jenny, Shanna, Sheila, Mitchell, Shawn, Stacey, and Melessa along with several great grandchildren; siblings: Kay Lind, Rose (Tom) Schwinn and James Bunich along with many other relatives and friends.
