Donald Venus Cantrell, 79

Donald Venus Cantrell, age 79, a McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County native was born June 20, 1937 and died December 3, 2016 in St. Thomas West Hospital following a brief illness.

He was a retired farmer and inspector with Carrier Corporation and son of the late Willie Taylor and Bertha Juanita (Glenn) Cantrell. He loved God, the church and his family. He was a faithful lifelong member of the Church of Christ, taught bible class for 40 years and was a avid bible reader. He enjoyed watching and playing sports, a member of the TSSAA for many years, served in the National Guard for 8 years and donated over 200 pints of blood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, David Cantrell; and granddaughter, Amy Miller.

Mr. Cantrell is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nelta Golden Cantrell; four children and spouses, Anthony Cantrell, Brad and Cyndi Cantrell and Donna Jo Farless all of McMinnville and Jeff and Renea Cantrell of Smithville, TN; nine grandchildren, Chandler and Whitney Cantrell, Nathan Cantrell and wife Caitlin, Nick Cantrell and wife Sarah, Erica Cantrell, Tyler Cantrell and wife Caroline, Taylor Freeney and husband Dylan and Ashley Farless; six great-grandchildren, Knox, Kannon, Kase, Addison, Lilly and Carter; brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Sarah Cantrell of Smithville; sister, Diana Cantrell Atnip of Smithville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alice Cantrell of Morrison, Faye and N. B. Stiles of McMinnville, and Ruth Cantrell of Summitville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Edwin and Joyce Golden of Mississippi; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2016 in High's Chapel with David Costello and Richard Bowman to officiate. Interment will follow in Webb Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday 9:00 a.m. a.m. Tuesday until the time of service at High's.

High's funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
