She was a daughter of Earl R. and Ella Belk Chronister of Charlotte. Her husband, Everard Glenn Brooks, Sr. died in 1986. Also preceding her in death were her brother and sister-in-law, Leighton and Margaret Chronister, and her sister, Frances Cox.

Left to cherish memories of their precious mother are Olivia Kay Brooks Clyde and Bob Clyde of Greenville, NC; Linda Brooks Armstrong and Vernon Armstrong of Travelers Rest, SC; Troy and Cathy Navey Brooks of Gastonia, NC; and Everard Glenn, Jr. (Ed) and Linda Hix Brooks of Spartanburg, SC. She was adored by her grandchildren Katherine Clyde, Kristi Clyde, Sarah Sells(Sam), Matthew Brooks (Leslie), Carrie Brooks, and Nicole Cooke (John Michael) and her great-grandchildren Tyler Clyde, Jacob and Joshua Sells, Thomas and Madelyn Brooks, and Brie and Leighton Cooke. Other survivors include her brother-in-law Willis Cox and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Valedictorian of her class at Paw Creek High School, Ollie retired from Duke Power. She was a faithful and active member of Thrift Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, led Bible studies, and served with the WMU, the pre-school department and on numerous committees. She also enjoyed vacationing with her family and friends, traveling, and volunteering in various capacities.

Burial:Hillcrest Gardens in Mount Holly.
