Juanell "Nell" Hull DuBose, 87, went home to the Lord on November 28, 2016 in Austin, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, AW "Joe" DuBose and her brother, Dale Hull. Her legacy lives on in those who survived her – siblings Jackie Partlow, John Hull, and Jim Hull; daughters Sherri (Boyd) Onderdonk and Susie Davison; grandchildren Jonathan (Kelly) Davison, Christopher (Laura) Davison, and Lisa (Jason) Case; and great grandchildren Claire, Ellie, Brooks, and Cooper Davison.
Nell was born on July 18, 1929 to "AT" and Johnny Hull of Copperas Cove, TX. She was the oldest of five and worked at her parents' store before and after school from age 12 until she graduated and moved to Austin at age 16. She attended Nixon Clay Business College and then worked for John Hancock Insurance Company.
She met the love of her life, Joe DuBose in October of 1946 who was straight out of the Navy and in accounting school. They married on May 30, 1948 and were together 48 years before his passing in 1996.
Nell worked as an accountant until 1985 when she retired and began volunteering at Seton Hospital. Not much for the retirement life or slowing down, she began working full-time at Seton as the gift shop manager from 1990-2004, then at the concierge desk at the Heart Hospital from 2005-2016. She continued to volunteer at Seton the entire time she was working and was recognized for 30 years of service in October of 2016.
She was an avid bridge player in 3 or more groups, and a founding member of Austin Baptist Church (7016 Ribelin Ranch Dr, Austin, TX 78750), where the services will be held at 10 am on Thursday, December 1st. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wonders & Worries or Austin Baptist Church.
