The following obituary was published in the Schenectady Gazette:

Funeral Service for Roscoe G. Tryon, 65, of 309 Stanford Avenue, who died suddenly at his home Wednesday night, will be held tomorrow from Baxter's Funeral Home at 8:30 a.m. A requiem mass will be chanted in St. Paul the Apostle Church at 9 a.m., burial will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. The funeral home will be open today from 7 to 9. Mr. Tryon, born Feb. 5, 1887, in Earlton, Greene County, had lived in Niskayuna 48 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret O'Brien Tryon; five daughters: Frances M. (Mrs. Hugh) Fancher, Mary M. (Mrs. Augustus) Schultz, Ann Beatrice (Mrs. Vincent) Paratory, Elinor G. (Mrs. Earl) Beveridge, and Marjorie Gertrude (Mrs. John) Smith; six sons: Roscoe G. Jr., Clifford, William, Bernard, Donald and George Tryon; three brothers: Myron, Arthur, and Stephen Tryon; two sisters: Miss Gertrude Tryon and Miss Sadie Tryon; and several grandchildren.

According to the 1940 US Census, Roscoe and his wife Margaret were the parents of 10 children:
