On Saturday evening, November 26, 2016, while at Louis and Peaches Owen Heart Hospital Peggy left this world to go be with her Lord and Savior and loved ones in Heaven after going through a long battle with congestive heart failure and vascular disease.

Peggy was born in the town of Edgewood, Texas on February 2, 1942 to parent’s Emmie Lee and Erdie Thomas Campbell. Her family later moved to the Dallas, Texas area. As an adult she lived in the East Texas area for a while and then moved back to the Dallas area where she retired from Honeywell in Richardson, Texas. She was a very devoted daughter who took care of her Mom after she became ill until her death in December of 1999. During the summer of 2000, her oldest sister, Opal, moved in with her. The two were inseparable and were always there for each other. When Opal became ill, Peggy helped to take of her until her death on January 31, 2015. When her oldest daughter, Diana, was diagnosed I don’t believe a day went by that she did not call her and send her cards every week. I remember how devastated she was when she found out, but she said, “I have to be strong for Diana.” She so admired Diana for the way she always kept going and called her “Superwoman.” I guess we know where Diana got her strength – from her dear supportive mother, Peggy.

When Peggy was younger, she loved going fishing. As her younger sister, she would give me a hard time because I hated worms, minnows and squirmy things. Then when I would catch a fish, I was afraid to take it off the hook. As she became older, she loved to write poems and she was an avid reader (especially the different series of vampire books her daughter sent to her on her Kindle). She loved watching the Dallas Cowboys play and after Opal passed away, she would always say, “I’m watching them for you sis.” Hallmark, Disney, romantic and old movies were her favorites. She loved the Ice Age movies and got a kick out of watching them. Her favorite TV programs were Dancing with the Stars and The Voice. She also loved Country/Western Music. She enjoyed her peaceful times when she would just sit at the window and watch the birds and squirrels in her back yard. She had a Hummingbird feeder and got such joy out of watching them. She loved jewelry, especially collecting owl jewelry because they were her favorite.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Bishop, Sr.; her father, Erdie Campbell; her mother, Emmie Simmons; her stepfather, Jimmie Simmons; her sister, Opal Finch; and her grandson, Robert Meade.

Peggy is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Randy Brothers of Wylie, Texas; her daughter, Diana Kenneally of Burlingame, California, daughter, Sherrie Marshall of Garland, Texas; son, Harold Bishop of Dallas, Texas and daughter, Kathy Meade. She is survived by six grandchildren; Camryn and Conor Kenneally, Amanda Tarasoff, Evan Marshall, Jenna Flemming, Chasity Meade and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held for Peggy at her home on 269 E. Kansas St. in Van, Texas at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 3, 2016. Her gravesite will be at Prairie Springs Cemetery in Ben Wheeler, Texas. Anyone wishing to send flowers, you may send to Peggy’s home in Van, Texas. If you wish to make a donation in lieu of flowers, please make donations either to the American Heart Association or the Vascular Disease Foundation.

I want to give special thanks to Peggy’s niece and husband, Linda and Thomas Hass for helping her and taking her to doctor’s appointments when she needed help. I also want to thank her close neighbors and friends for being there for her.

Peggy was always making everyone laugh. As her sister, she was my “ray of sunshine” that brightened my world each and every day. She will truly be missed, but there is not a doubt in my mind that God welcomed her with open arms.
