The son of O.L. and Anna (Sjogren) Olson, Swan came to America in 1866. locating in Bishop Hill, where he resided for 56 years.
Swan married Miss Catherine Nordeen on February 1, 187? (have seen 1873, 1875 and 1876).
To this union were born ten children, four of whom preceded Swan in death.
Mr. & Mrs. Olson made their home on a farm one and a half miles east of Bishop Hill for 42 years.
About five years prior to his death, the couple moved into Bishop Hill.
Swan was survived by his wife and six children:
Alfred of Galva;
Victor of Bishop Hill;
Forrest of Bishop Hill;
Mrs. 'Lina" Wexell of Victoria;
Charlotta of Peoria;
and
Mrs. Catherine Cady of Rock Island.
He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters who reside in Sweden.
