(NOTE on death location: Harnedsville is not definite; this is the area where he was living in his last census, age 87, in 1860.)
Some researchers believe this man is the oldest, proveable, documentable ancestor of the Prinkey/Pringey family in America. Other researchers take the line back at least one more generation (to John Pringey 'Sr.', who appears to be Jr's father, but could perhaps be a cousin). Still others believe John Jr.'s father was 'Hans Prike' or 'Brick', who emigrated with Philip Prike (or 'Brick') to Philadelphia from the port of Rotterdam in 1750.
The man has been gone for over 150 years, and the complete story is still unclear. Research continues by many of the Pringey descendants.
John's wives:
He appears to have first been married to Catherine Schneider (Memorial# 124611557). At least one record dated 1802 lists a 'John Pringey' and his probable wife Catherine.
He was certainly married to Abigail Rhoades by 21 Jan 1802, as they are both listed as witnesses to the marriage of John Painter and Elizabeth Aness(?) that day.
Other children not yet located or linked here at Find-a-Grave:
1. unknown daughter (bef 1800- ) grave location unknown; probably Somerset Co, PA
2. Barbara Pringey Graham (b. 1804- d. possibly 17 Feb 1889) gravesite unlocated, probably Muscatine Co, IA; or possibly Saline Co, Missouri; her husband John Graham is buried here: Memorial# 52839008.
A Request to all Pringey and Prinkey Reserchers:
Lack of proof of the origins of the Pringey Family is "consuming" many of us. Please consider sharing your findings with us all in the easiest manner possible for open consideration and discussion.
I have NO PROBLEM updating this Memorial as new, better evidence is found. We all want the best information possible.
